MICHIGAN CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT
Michigan City, Indiana
102 W. 2nd St.
Michigan City, IN. 46360
I am humbled and honored to have been appointed as the 36th Chief of Police to represent the members of this department.
As Chief, I fully appreciate, respect and value the experience, knowledge, dedication and insight from each and every member of the department.
To serve the members of the Department to the best of my ability, my goal is to provide an environment where officers know they are supported by the Department’s Administration and they are inspired to achieve a safer city for our citizens and the many visitors to our community. My team will commit our resources in partnership with the community to provide quality public safety services in a courteous, efficient and accessible manner to all.
My personal mission and commitment to our community is to provide quality police service, built upon a foundation of substantive partnerships with many members of the community. To achieve this, the Michigan City Police Department will continue to enhance our “Community Policing Strategies” by working with: our neighborhood association groups; community service organizations; participation in the City Code Enforcement efforts; Project Lifesaver, Citizen's Police Academy, Youth Police Explorer chapter and a commitment to work closely with our community partners to develop a unified strategy aimed at reducing overall crime within our community.
I will also ask each member of our department to conduct themselves with the highest degree of ethical behavior and professional conduct during the performance of their law enforcement duties. As Chief, I look forward to and embrace the opportunities ahead of us as we continue to enhance our partnerships with the community that we so proudly serve.
Yours in public service,
Chief of Police, Mark Swistek
